Welcome!

Green Futures is a non-profit educational and advocacy organization of people who share a concern for the protection of our shared environment.

All communities are entitled to clean air, clean water and sufficient open space for the continued presence of their indigenous wildlife and habitats.

Green Futures knows environmental stewardship leads to sustainable communities, stable economies and a healthy and productive life in harmony with nature.

We follow the axiom, “think global, act local”. We hope you do too.

Flora and Fauna on Our Turtle Walk

Besides turtles and late spring flowers we found an eastern ribbon snake enjoying the sunshine on our walk. The ribbon snake (Thamnophis sauritus) is closely related to the more common eastern garter snake (Thamnophis sirtalis). Ribbon snakes like wetlands and shrubbery. Garter snakes are habitat generalists and may be found in meadows and fields, woods and even in urban backyards.
